Spoon River

In our English class we have been reading a book called Spoon River Anthology. The man who wrote the book took a town and looked at all the graves and wrote a story for each person. Some of these stories are really funny and weird and plain confusing! Others are really sad because to think about what they went through the way he interpruts the story is really sad. There is one poem that I really liked. Her name was Mrs. Merritt. She was married to Tom Merritt, Mrs. Merritt had a secret though. She had a secret lover named Elmer Karr. One time Tom found Elmer sneaking out from behind the barn. When Tom went walking home Elmer shot him! The judge gave him 14 years, but the twist in the story is that Mrs. Merritt was blamed more for the murder and she got 30 years but she died in prison. Some of the stories in this book are full of twists and turns and some of the people are connected in some way. This is a really good book.
