The worst day of my life
The summer before 5th grade. I was so excited because I was almost into Jr. High. I was going to have the best summer ever. Or so I thought! My parents told my sister and I that we would go on the annual camping trip with my dad's work. Great I love going camping because we get to ride 4-wheelers and go on hikes. So the time for the camping trip came and I was so excited that I couldn't sleep. We left after school and got up to the spot we wanted to camp in. It was awsome sitting around the fire and talking and roasting marshmallows and not having to go to sleep really early! Halfway through the next day my sister and I and some of the other kids there decided to have a race on our peddle bikes. We went on the road and made sure there was no one on the road then we went up to the top of the road which had kind of a slope to it. I went first against this kid named Nick. We started going down the road and I was picking up speed. I went to slow down and I found out that my brakes weren't working! I thought ok I can just use my feet. I was going too fast though, so I went and turned into an opening that I thought might be grassy and would slow me down but when I turned into it I found that there was only a big boulder and I hit it head on. My bike flipped and so did I but the sproket on my bike went into my leg and went to the bone and when I came down I hit my head on the boulder. My sister came running down and found me she ran back to camp and told everyone and one of my dads friends came on his 4-wheeler and picked me up. The closest hospital was in Salmon 1hr. and 30min. away. So I rode in the back of the pickup with a diaper on my leg. When we got to the hospital the doctor said that I had to get stiches . This was my first time ever in a hospital. I was freaking out and when they went to give me the IV I wouldn't go to sleep. I had to get two adult doses to take me down. I had to get 30 stiches in my leg. When I got back to camp everyone wanted to see it and told me how brave I was! The only bad thing was is that I had to stay at camp the whole rest of the trip because he told me that I couldn't be on my leg alot so I couldn't go on the 4-wheelers. I couldn't do anything. This was why it was the worst day and I said that I would never go to the hospital again unless I really need to!
